The Model: What Makes It Work
The standard resort kids' club is a holding pen with activities. Children tolerate it while parents feel vaguely guilty. Everyone's watching the clock. At 7pm, parents collect tired children and the "vacation" becomes work again.
Return rates for traditional family resorts hover around 5-10%. Families try a place once, then move on. There's no loyalty because there's no transformation.
Now consider elite American sleepaway camps — places like Camp Nebagamon, Kieve, or Cheley Colorado. Return rates exceed 70%. Children count the days until they can go back. Parents struggle to get phone calls answered. Something real happens there.
